Careers and Aspiration Intent Statement
At South Wigston High School, our careers education programme is driven by the values of ambition, respect, and determination, empowering every student to explore and pursue a future that reflects their unique strengths and aspirations. We are committed to delivering a comprehensive and inclusive careers curriculum that meets the needs of all learners, guided by the eight Gatsby Benchmarks. Through high-quality career guidance, encounters with employers and employees, and meaningful experiences of workplaces, we aim to raise aspirations and broaden horizons. Our students are encouraged to be ambitious in setting goals, respectful of diverse career paths, and determined to overcome challenges as they prepare for life beyond school.
We ensure that careers education is embedded across the curriculum and supported by personal guidance, labour market information, and regular engagement with further and higher education providers. By aligning our provision with the Gatsby Benchmarks, we guarantee that students receive timely and relevant information, develop essential employability skills, and make informed decisions about their future. Our vision is to cultivate confident, curious, and resilient individuals who are ready to thrive in a rapidly changing world. At South Wigston, careers education is not just a programme—it is a promise to nurture potential and inspire success.
